AMASO is a small humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organization staffed by Abdul Ghafoor (Director of AMASO) and Liza Schuster. They offer migration advice and counseling to those planning to leave Afghanistan and to those recently returned (voluntarily or by force). They provide expert reports in asylum cases, prepare statements to aid refugee family reunification, and facilitate communication between lawyers, supporters and deportees. They mainly mainly help those who are referred through referrals by organizations and individuals based in Europe. They claim to provide temporary accommodation and educational workshops too.

Mission

In our communities, we raise awareness of key issues by hosting events with an emphasis on bringing speakers from the Bahraini-American community and from Bahrain to the US to meet with lawmakers, US government officials, and other non-profit organizations. In the non-profit sector, we work closely with other leading human rights organizations in the US, Bahrain, and Europe to strengthen advocacy efforts. In Congress and the executive branch, we develop relationships with key legislative representatives and government officials to create sustainable improvements in US foreign policy that support and strengthen human rights in Bahrain. The psychological department of Beijing LGBT Center takes “psychological counseling” services and “training of friendly psychological counselors for sexual minorities” as its core work content, provides professional psychological counseling services to the community, and cultivates friendly psychological counselors with diverse competences. As well, The Transgender Project Department adheres to the concept of “based on the community, serving the community” and emphasizes the importance of advocacy and service in parallel. From the community service work of the “trans-child space” and the “transgender hotline” to the industry advocacy work in the medical, legal and psychological fields, in order to achieve the self-growth of the community and the establishment of a social support system, all work is in service to empowering and advocating in this logical closed loop.

Arus Pelangi

Arus Pelangi is currently involved in two main streams of advocacy for LGBT: those related to legal representation and those related to public policy. For advocacy relating legal cases which emerge affecting the LGBT communities Arus Pelangi extends legal counseling and representation. Arus Pelangi advocates and lobbies with governmental institutions in order to increase the level of formal protection of LGBT through government policies and the law. For the local LGBT communities Arus Pelangi provides private counseling through a hotline service, as well as group trainings such organization building and public advocacy.

International Railroad for Queer Refugees

Services

IRQR conducts regular workshops for refugees in different Turkish cities and facilitates the exchange of local-condition information to strengthen the knowledge shared throughout the underground queer railroad and strengthen the LGBT Iranian activist network worldwide. As well, through the Refugee Program, the IRQR helps each refugee with his/her asylum claim by meeting with the refugee. The IRQR also assists those refugees whose claims are granted and who are referred to Canada for resettlement with completing the immigration application forms that the refugees must submit to immigration officers at the Canadian Embassy in Turkey. And The IRQR provides relief for these impoverished refugees by providing them with financial assistance to cover their food, shelter, clothing and medical services through their SHER program.

IRQR’s mission is to relieve poverty for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) refugees living in Turkey by providing the basic necessities of life; and to relieve poverty by sponsoring, providing financial and resettlement assistance to LGBT refugees in Turkey who have fled because of persecution for their sexual orientation or gender identification and, as victims of human rights abuses; and to undertake activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above charitable purpose.

Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) is the press association established in 2009 by Iranian human rights advocates in order to report and disseminate daily news of human rights violations in Iran. The organization defends freedom of speech, association and press. They oppose capital punishment including stoning. The organization condemns the expulsion of college students as a form of punishment for their political beliefs and fights for the right to education.

MIZAN provide many service through their projects. The Protection of People and Human Rights project aims to raise the capacity of lawyers in the field of legal protection offered to victims of human rights violations and to help provide redress and end injustice caused to victims by providing legal counseling and legal assistance to those who are in need, especially to vulnerable or marginalized categories such as children, women and the elderly.
